1/700 Special 45: IJN Heavy Cruiser Takao (1944/ Operation Shoichi) New parts have been added to the figure at the time of the Battle of Leyte, when the anti-aircraft armament was strengthened and the No. 21, 22, and 13 electric radar and numerous single machine guns were conspicuously displayed! New molds are used to unify the differences in the reproduction of equipment, etc. depending on the time of release of the product, and some parts are also divided in consideration of the painting process. No. 13 electric probe is a new sealed part that is sculpted on the truss structure, and the aerial part is also a shape expression. The No.21 electric probe is sculpted more delicately than the previous included parts, such as the base of the insulator for fixing the element on the front side. The No. 22 electric probe has been made using a slide mold to show it in its open state. The 12.7cm anti-aircraft gun A1 is subdivided into 4 parts, and the molding resolution has been increased from the existing 2 parts. The 9-meter cutter is made of two parts for painting, and the trestle is prepared as a separate part, which can be selected from the deck integrated mold. The 11-meter inner gunboat has separate parts for the canvas and wheelhouse/mechanical room canopy for painting. Each part is painted and assembled and glued afterwards. The base of the ship is molded with uneven shapes and light holes to increase the sense of precision. New parts are provided for the chrysanthemum emblem on the bow and the port light on the side of the bridge. Binocular telescope parts are added to the air defense command post and the compass bridge. Decals for the aft ship's name (in warship color) and the white line on the mast have been added. The Type 96 25mm machine gun is now a standard two-part part that reduces painting/separation work. Ship's body The hull is a one-piece structure with both port and starboard sides molded as a single piece, allowing for more stable assembly compared to the left-right laminated type. The bulges on the port and starboard sides, which were installed at the time of refit, are molded in one piece. The porthole windows on the porthole side are sculpted in 3D. Upper Deck The upper deck is a single piece, with detailed carvings such as linoleum deck hold downs and non-slip steel decks. The upper deck reproduces the slope (camber angle) that is lower on the left and right outer sides. Each deck Various parts such as machine gun ammunition boxes, single machine gun mounting parts, and hose reels are reproduced. The shelter deck is a separate part, and the torpedo equipment compartment in the lower level is also accurately reproduced. The air working deck is a separate part, and the vertical surface is sculpted by a slide mold. Bridge The large bridge structure is a one-piece part with engraving on four sides using a slide mold. The air defense command center and the compass deck are made of slide molds to represent each layer of the deck including the wind shielding device in detail. Main gun turret - The main gun barrel is reproduced with the gun muzzle, and the angle of elevation can be reproduced as desired by the angle of adhesion to the turret. The joints of the heat shield plates on the side and top of the turret are expressed by detailed sculpture. Chimney The front and rear chimneys are both split into left and right sections, and the handrails and double scaffolds are expressed with fine engravings. The chimney grate is designed so that the inner tube can be seen through when the grate is removed. The steam dumping pipe is a separate part from the chimney to reproduce the individual differences between the same type of ship. Mast and Aircraft Rigging The rear mast is a single-piece molded lower truss structure, allowing for easy reproduction of its detailed shape. The crane for the water reconnaissance landing gear is reproduced with sculpted trusses on the sides and top using a slide mold, and the hooks are also reproduced with delicate modeling. The catapult (Kure Type II No. 5) is reproduced by slide mold with realistic molding on the side and top surfaces. Shipboard Aircraft The molding color is gray to improve workability (to prevent damage when cutting the gate). Includes two each of Type Zero (three-seater) waterborne reconnaissance aircraft and Type Zero waterborne observation aircraft. Included decals Includes military flags, national flags, and sun marbles for aircraft. Three sizes of flags are provided. The contents are based on the actual dimensions of 10, 6, and 3 widths in 1/700 scale. Included are the sun flag of the ship, and the identification band of the allied side (yellow band), etc. The sun flag includes the one without the white border of the late World War II. Decals include white lines on masts and ship's name on the stern (gold and filled-in warship colors). The product is an unpainted kit requiring adhesive assembly and painting. The scale is 1/700 and is an offshore model not including the bottom of the ship. The product is composed of conventional (special series) molds and new additional mold parts. The product specifications are based on the appearance of the first ship of the Takao type "Takao" at the time of the Battle of Leyte (October 1944). The bridge of Takao and Atago was reduced in size by prewar refit, and the rear mast was moved to the rear, etc. Many exclusive parts are used. [Included] Runner x35 - Assembly instructions x1 - Decals x3 Please note that colors may look different from the actual product due to monitor and image resolution issues.
