Reproduction of the sharp appearance of the world's first supersonic fighter, the F-100 About the actual aircraft: The F-100 Super Sabre was developed as the successor to the F-86 Sabre, the masterpiece jet fighter of the postwar era, and first flew in 1953. It succeeded in breaking the speed of sound in level flight. It was the world's first practical supersonic fighter. It was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engine. It achieved a maximum speed of Mach 1.3. As fixed armament, it was equipped with four M39 20mm engines. It was capable of equipping and operating Sidewinder, Bullpup, and other missiles and nuclear bombs. The F-100 as an air control fighter was later developed into a fighter-bomber type based on military requirements. The C and D models were developed with additional hardpoints to increase armament carrying capacity and to improve cruising range. The D-type first flew in 1956. In the 1960s, it was deployed in the Vietnam War as a ground attack aircraft. About the model: This plastic model assembly kit reproduces the F-100D, which appeared in 1956 as a fighter-bomber type of the F-100 Super Sabre, the world's first practical supersonic fighter. The scale is 1/144 and the finished length and width are approximately 10cm and 8cm, respectively. Parts are made by EF Toys for easy assembly and set for two aircraft. The slim fuselage with air intakes in the nose and the retracted wings are accurately modeled down to the panel lines. Parts such as the refueling probe and long pitot tube are also delicately represented. The reproduction of the legs and other parts also creates a mechanical finish. There are two types of markings. The "Triple Zero" piloted by Colonel Raymond Tolliver, commander of the 20th Tactical Combat Wing deployed in England in 1957, and the "Triple Zero" piloted by Major General Don Schmenk of the 308th Combat Wing of the 31st Combat Wing in 1969, both in attractive camouflage paint from the Vietnam War, are provided as decals. The combination of silver and camouflage coloring representing the F-100, which is unique to the Century Series, is a joy to complete. Reproduction of the F-100D Super Saber in 1/144 scale. Finished overall length is approx. 10 cm, width approx. 8 cm Parts are made by Eftoys for easy assembly Parts for two aircraft are included.
