About the aircraft The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a close air support aircraft and ground attack aircraft of the U.S. armed forces that has been in operation since 1977. Equipped with twin-engine engines, the main wings have a straight wing style, which is a major characteristic of this aircraft. The underside of the wings and the fuselage have a total of 11 hardpoints and are capable of carrying 16,000 pounds or 7,260 kg of bombs, rockets, and missiles. In addition, the nose is equipped with a 30 x 173mm GAU-8/A Avenger autocannon. It has a high attack capability. The A-10 first participated in actual combat during the Gulf War in 1991, and is still in service with the U.S. Air Force today.
