The F-4 jet fighter was developed as an air defense and air control fighter for U.S. Navy carrier task forces. Powered by two high-power J79 turbojet engines, the same two engines used in the F-104 fighter, the F-4 boasted generous maneuverability and payload, and was a double-seat fighter with a radar interceptor officer (RIO) sharing the workload to operate a large anti-aircraft radar and complex fire control equipment. It carries a powerful armament of eight missiles: four AIM-7 radar homing missiles, the latest at the time, and four AIM-9 short-range infrared guided missiles. The first mass-produced model in the F-4 series was the F-4B, and later the F-4 was adopted by the U.S. Air Force, which produced more than 5,000 aircraft, including derivatives. In this kit, the main wings, thin high-pressure tires and main landing gear for the B model are newly produced. The air brakes on the underside of the main wings can be lowered. Antennas such as IR sensors are set as special parts.
