The Savanna RX-7 (SA22C) was introduced in March 1978. It was popular for its shocking style with retractable headlights, and its packaging was well thought out as a sports car with a low center of gravity for enhanced mobility, taking advantage of the rotary engine's compact and lightweight characteristics. In the U.S., it attracted attention as a base car for motorsports, and was entered in the IMSA series from 1979. In its debut race at the 24 Hours of Daytona, it left a brilliant track record, winning the GTU class championship and finishing 5th overall, and it quickly attracted the attention of motorsports fans in the United States. The kit reproduces the winning car, Car No. 7, which was driven by the Rotary Three Musketeers, Yoshimi Katayama, Koji Yudono, and Yojiro Terada. *The image shown is a prototype. [Plastic model].
