The outfitting parts have been newly researched and redesigned. By incorporating numerous sliding mechanisms into the molds, we have accurately reproduced the intricate details of the 1/700 scale. We are pleased to present the Waterline Series, reborn with even greater precision. The “Chiyoda” was originally built as a seaplane tender under the Second Naval Armament Supplementary Plan of fiscal year 1934, but was converted into a target ship in 1940. Following the defeat at the Battle of Midway, which resulted in the loss of Japan’s main aircraft carriers, it was converted into an aircraft carrier in 1943. In her maiden battle, the Battle of the Marianas, she was assigned to the 3rd Air Squadron of the 3rd Fleet and was used as a bomber, with her Zero carrier-based fighters equipped with 250 kg bombs. In 1944, she participated alongside her sister ship, the “Chitose,” as part of “Ozawa’s Mobile Force” in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Cape Engano?major naval engagements between Japan and the United States. After being rendered unseaworthy by attacks from U.S. carrier-based aircraft, it was intercepted by a cruiser task force and sunk. This kit features a parts configuration that captures the essential details, making it simple to assemble while accurately reproducing the ship. Newly designed parts have been added to represent various armaments, such as machine guns and anti-aircraft guns.
