Honda Beat: A Lightweight Mid-Engine Convertible The PP1-type Beat debuted in 1991. Created under the concept of a “high-density personal convertible,” the Beat packed a wealth of appeal into its compact body, true to the “high-density” concept. Measuring 3.3 m in length and 1.4 m in width, the E07A engine mounted in the center of the body was a high-revving unit featuring the state-of-the-art “MTREC” intake system, with the redline starting at 8,500 rpm.
