VW Beetle Cabriolet The German-born Volkswagen Beetle, a car for the masses, featured an open-top Cabriolet model in its lineup dating back to 1949. Karman handled the bodywork, evidenced by the emblem on the front quarter panel. The thick, durable fabric top offered excellent weather resistance, and the car's distinctive silhouette with the large folded top carried on its back when open was also appealing. From 1971, the 1302S with MacPherson strut front suspension became the base model, followed by the panoramic window 1303S in 1973. Production continued until 1980, even after the Beetle ceased production in Germany in 1978. In Japan, “Convertible” was the official name. The model code 15ADK signifies 15 for the 4-seater cabriolet and AD for the 1600cc AD-type engine. ● Includes aluminum license plate ● Exterior parts feature chrome finish ● Selectable open/closed state ● Includes optional mirrors ● Uses molds manufactured in the 1980s ※ Image shows a prototype.
