The most powerful version of the F-4, the Type E, had fixed slats on the stabilizers (tail stabilizers) to improve maneuverability. However, the addition of machine guns and improvements to other equipment increased weight, causing concerns about maneuverability. Starting with the later production lots of the Type E (including export models), the leading edge flaps on the main wings were eliminated and replaced with movable leading edge slats, greatly improving maneuverability. This modification, which was also made to existing production models, was also incorporated into the Navy's S-type. The movable leading edge slats were also called “with air battle flaps,” but in recent years they are called “soft wing” and the conventional normal wing is called “hard wing” to distinguish them. This product reproduces the soft wing in a new mold. The outer wing portion of the leading edge slats is a separate part to enhance the realism of the model. The optical TV camera, TISEO, is also newly molded and the lens part is a clear part. The included decals are the markings of the 3rd Tactical Flying Wing (3TFW) of the U.S. Pacific Air Force, which was deployed to Clark Air Base in the Philippines after the Vietnam War. The 3TFS (3TFS) contributed to the stability around the South China Sea for a long time with the purpose of deterring Vietnam and the Soviet Union. The F-4E, with its long nose and painted shark teeth, is a familiar unit in Japan, having frequently flown to Yokota and Kadena air bases. The package illustration depicts a scene on the apron of Clark Air Base around 1984.
