Details
The prototype Zero-sen fighters, designated “12th Experimental Carrier Fighter” Nos. 1 and 2, featured the Mitsubishi “Zuiho Engine” instead of the “Sakae Engine” that would later become the Zero's core powerplant. Their most distinctive feature was the use of a two-bladed propeller. Furthermore, numerous details set them apart from the production Zero fighters adopted later. A slightly shorter fuselage, unique cowling shape, forward-leaning antenna mast, different vertical stabilizer outline, fins mounted under the rear fuselage, and horizontal stabilizers with protruding mass balances?these are just some of the distinctive features visible throughout the prototype. This kit meticulously recreates the unique details of the 12th Experimental Carrier Fighter No. 2, differing from the Zero in every aspect. Displaying it alongside a Zero fighter allows for a visual comparison that instantly highlights the differences in their development processes. The fuselage, wings, engine, and propeller are molded in gray, the landing gear in black, and the interior in yellow-green. Series Name 1/72 Scale Imperial Japanese Army and Navy Aircraft
