Plastic model [Scale] 1/72 When Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990, the U.S. Navy responded immediately with a carrier task force and deployed to the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. F-14 fighters were active in escorting attack aircraft in addition to their main mission of fleet air defense, but Iraqi aircraft, which had suffered severely from Iranian Air Force F-14s during the Iran-Iraq War, fled without taking hostile action when they heard radar signals emitted by US Navy F-14s, and US Navy F-14s did not achieve significant results in the Gulf War. The U.S. Navy F-14s did not achieve any significant results in the Gulf War. The decals are for one VF-32 "Swordsmen" and one VF-102 "Diamondbacks" that participated in the Gulf War, as well as one decal for an earlier incident that took place in 1989 over the Gulf of Sidra between the U.S. Navy and the Libyan Air Force. The VF-102 also comes with the markings of the aircraft that shot down a Libyan MiG-23 during the 1989 battle between the U.S. Navy and the Libyan Air Force (Sidra Gulf Incident) over the Gulf of Sidra.
