The Type 95 light tank was officially adopted by the Japanese Army in 1935. From the Sino-Japanese War through the Pacific War to the end of the war, it was used in all areas where the Japanese Army was deployed, from the Kuril Islands in the north to the Marshall Islands in the south. Toward the end of the war, the 26th Tank Regiment, led by Type 95 light tanks in numbers, was dispatched to intercept American forces invading Iwo Jima in the Ogasawara Islands as a foothold for a direct attack on the Japanese mainland. Lieutenant Colonel Nishi Takeichi, the gold medalist in equestrian at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and also known as "Baron Nishi," led this tank corps as regimental commander, and a fierce battle ensued. ● The product is based on the kit released in December 2015 as a new design and mold, and will be released as the so-called "Late Type". The kit will reproduce the extended front fenders and the 7.7mm caliber Type 97 vehicle-mounted heavy machine gun, which are the characteristics of the late type.
