About the actual aircraft The T-4 is a subsonic jet aircraft developed by Japan as the successor to the T-33A training plane, a medium training plane for Air Self-Defense Force crew members who have completed their primary training in propeller-driven aircraft and are ready to advance to jet fighter training. It features a new transonic wing configuration to achieve stable flight from low to high speed (transonic). The aircraft has been deployed in the Air Self-Defense Force since 1988, and is also used by the Blue Impulse acrobatic flight team. The aircraft of each unit are generally painted in the usual gray paint scheme. The 1st Wing, based at Hamamatsu Air Base in Shizuoka Prefecture, also operates the T-4. The T-4s are used to train the elite pilots who are responsible for Japan's air defense. About the model This plastic model kit is a 1/100 scale reproduction of the T-4, a training plane of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The model is of an aircraft belonging to the 1st Air Wing operating at Hamamatsu Air Base in Shizuoka Prefecture. The kit is easy to assemble and includes parts for one aircraft in 1/100 scale with an overall length of approximately 13cm and a wing span of approximately 10cm, providing a reasonably sized finish for your enjoyment. No glue is required for assembly; simply insert the main and tail wings and other parts into the fuselage to complete. A display stand is included, and the leg parts can be changed between landing and flight states by replacing the parts. Markings are reproduced in the Air Self-Defense Force's common gray paint scheme with the Hinomaru (Japanese flag) and other markings.
