The Kyoto Imperial Palace is located in the northern part of the central part of Kyoto Imperial Palace.
It is a palace where successive emperors lived from the middle of the Kamakura period to the beginning of the Meiji period.
The current one was rebuilt in 1855 in the late Edo period, and part of it imitates the ancient system of the Heian dynasty.
