The “Toro Ruins” in the palm of your hand. A special edition that includes a separate explanatory sheet supervised by the Toro Museum! Recreate tourist attractions from all over Japan with models! You can easily build models of famous tourist spots. This product is a kit that requires painting and gluing. The product is modeled after the pit-dwelling and the elevated-floor warehouse at the Toro Ruins, a National Special Historic Site located in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. *Note: There are various theories regarding the shapes of the dwelling and warehouse, and they differ from their current reconstructed forms. Stilted Warehouse This kit allows you to recreate an eight-post stilted warehouse featuring chigi (gable finials) on the roof. The undulations of the thatched roof and the wood grain patterns on the walls are reproduced through engraving. The “rat guards”?a characteristic feature of stilted warehouses?are integrated into the warehouse floor component. Dwelling The interior pillars and framework, along with the thatched walls and roof sections, are separate parts, allowing the internal structure of the dwelling to be clearly seen. The hearth, believed to have been located in the center of the earthen floor, is recreated via engraving on the floor part. The undulations of the thatched walls and roof are recreated through engraving. The roof and walls at the entrance are separate parts. A display plate part engraved with the characters for “Toro Ruins” is also included on the sprue. The molded color of the warehouse, dwelling, and display plate parts has been changed from the conventional gray to light brown. Display Base A display base is included that allows the warehouse and dwelling to be displayed side by side. The display base is molded in black. Base dimensions: 93 × 153 mm The package features striking images of the actual T?ro Ruins. The side of the package includes illustrations depicting the area surrounding the T?ro Ruins. These can be cut out and used to create dioramas. Contents on the side of the package: two types of maps, the “Special Historic Site: T?ro Ruins” stone monument, a “No Bicycles on Premises” sign, a bus stop, and the text “Shizuoka T?ro Ruins” that can be inserted into the display plate parts Diorama Backing Sheet A diorama backing sheet sized to fit the display base is included. It can be used by attaching it to the base, for example. Special Explanatory Booklet A special explanatory booklet supervised by the Toro Museum is included as a limited-edition bonus. It consists of 10 pages (excluding the cover) and features an overview of the Toro Ruins, their history, and explanations regarding dwellings and warehouses.
