Special Series Aircraft Carrier Hiryu is now available with etching parts! The product is based on the appearance at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Battle of Midway Island in June 1942. During the MI operation in June 1942, there is also a marking (Hinomaru) for identification of friend and foe on the flight deck, which can be done at the time of the Midway Island operation. Newly designed parts for 2021 are available to unify the differences in reproduction of equipment, etc., depending on the time of product release, some parts are also divided in consideration of painting work. ・12.7cm連装高角砲 A type 1 is subdivided into 4 parts in total, and the modeling resolution is increased from the existing 2 parts. The 12.7cm anti-aircraft gun A-1 Kai-2 with soot shield is subdivided into 4 parts, and the modeling resolution has been improved. The 9-meter cutter on the short boat deck is made of two parts for painting. The 12-meter inner gunboat has a canvas and wheelhouse/mechanical room canopy as separate parts for painting. Each part is painted and assembled and glued afterwards. The chrysanthemum crest on the bow is newly prepared. The boat body and loading area floor are separate parts in a 3-part configuration, and can be assembled after painting to eliminate the need for masking. The 12-meter inner launch can be rendered without canvas. The base of the boat is molded with uneven shapes and light holes for a more precise modeling. The hull is a one-piece structure with port and starboard sides. The porthole windows and the overhang of the ventilation channel on the port side of the cannery are all one-piece parts, but they have a three-dimensional effect. The flight deck is a single-piece structure with delicate wood deck, expansion joints, and gutters on all four sides. Elevators and wind shields are provided as separate parts. The edges of the flight deck are delicately sculpted with a split pattern. Anchor chain deck and short boat deck are delicately sculpted with non-slip split patterns and linoleum hold-downs. The bridge base is a one-piece molded part using a slide mold. The chimney is a two-part structure with the upper and lower parts pasted together, and the parting line is set in a position that cannot be seen. Strip patterns on the floor, such as the high-angle gun turrets, are represented by detailed sculpture. Binocular telescope parts are included on the bridge to increase the sense of precision. The shipboard aircraft includes 15 planes, 5 each of Zero-sen Type 21/999 BAKKO/97 BATTLE OFFENSE, molded in gray color. The 25mm machine gun is precision molded and comes in two parts for easy painting. Molded in gray color for main parts, bottom plate, ship's aircraft, machine gun parts, etc. Three types of decals are included. ・One decal is included for marking shipboard aircraft. Two decals are included for the aft ship's name and the white lines on the deck props. Decals are included for flight deck markings, warship flags, and the flight deck/allied identification mark (Hinomaru) used during the MI operation in June 1942. Etching parts are included to reproduce details that are difficult to reproduce with injection parts. Etched parts include handrails, rattles, masts, wind shields, ladders, fall barriers, boat davits, cranes, etc. The product is an unpainted kit requiring adhesive assembly and painting. The scale is 1/700 and is an offshore model not including the bottom of the ship. The product consists of conventional (Special Series) molds and additional parts newly designed for 2021. Please note that colors may look different from the actual product due to monitor and image resolution issues. (From Fujimi Models website)
