A special edition of the “Special Series Akagi (PLUS Edition)”?which comes with precision fitting parts?featuring additional etched parts! (Basic Specifications) ・This kit features a glue-together assembly design and is characterized by its intricate construction, which emphasizes detailed modeling. ・The parts are primarily molded in gray, allowing you to enjoy painting as you assemble the model. ・The model is based on the ship’s appearance during the Pearl Harbor attack in December Showa 16 and the Midway Island campaign in June Showa 17. ・It depicts the ship as it appeared after the major refit completed in Showa 13, with flight deck markings (decals) provided for the Showa 16 configuration. ・Includes markings (Rising Sun flags) for friend-or-foe identification on the flight deck from the MI Operation in June Showa 17, allowing assembly to replicate the ship’s appearance during the Midway Island campaign. (Structure, Specifications, and Features) ・The hull features a one-piece structure where the port and starboard sides are integrated. ・The shape sloping toward the stern, numerous portholes, and the complex contours of the hangar side walls are rendered using one-piece molded parts. ・The flight deck is a single-piece structure featuring intricate engravings of the wooden deck, windbreaks, and expansion joints. ・The section where the flight deck is doubled at the stern is reproduced with the lower layer as a separate part. ・The elevator is a separate part. ・The anchor chain deck and boat deck feature intricate engravings, such as anti-slip split patterns and guide rails. ・The funnel consists of two parts that are assembled by joining the upper and lower sections. ・The strip patterns on the deck surfaces, such as those on the high-angle gun mounts, are rendered with fine engraving. ・The truss columns of the flight deck supports (aft) feature engraving on all four sides. ・The main parts, hull bottom plate, and machine gun parts are molded in gray. ・Three types of decals, totaling four sheets, are included. ・ One sheet of decals for carrier-based aircraft markings is included. ・Two sheets of decals for the ship’s name on the stern and the white lines on the flight deck struts are included. ・One sheet of decals is included featuring flight deck markings, the naval ensign, and the flight deck/friendly identification mark (Rising Sun flag) used during Operation MI in June Showa 17. ・Unlike the STD version, the PLUS version includes parts designed to enhance realism. ・The PLUS version includes replacement and additional parts for the 9-meter cutter, 12-meter motorboat, 12-meter motor launch, 13-meter special transport cargo boat, the chrysanthemum crest, 25mm machine guns, and binoculars. ・A total of 15 aircraft are included: 5 Type 21 Zero fighters, 5 Type 99 carrier-based dive bombers, and 5 Type 97 carrier-based torpedo bombers. The molded color is clear, allowing for a more realistic reproduction of the canopy. ・The 25mm twin machine gun features precise sculpting and a two-part design that facilitates painting; the mold parts introduced in 2018 are included as standard. ・The bridge includes binocular parts that enhance the sense of detail in the anti-aircraft command post. ・Etching parts are included to capture even the finest details that are difficult to reproduce with injection-molded parts. ・The etching parts include handrails, ladders, bridge window frames, a direction-finding antenna, funnel footrests, fall prevention railings, and boat davits. ・Etching part size: 63 × 180 mm [Contents] 49 sprues ・3 instruction manuals ・4 decal sheets ・1 set of etching parts [Assembled Dimensions] (approx.) 374 × 79 × 50 mm *Information current as of September 2026.
