The Imperial Japanese Navy series "Aircraft Carrier Unryu" is now available with etching parts! Unryu was completed in August 1944 at Yokosuka Naval Arsenal as the first ship of Unryu class. Based on the design of the aircraft carrier Hiryu, the bridge was moved to starboard, the two-piece rudder system was adopted like that of the aircraft carrier Soryu, and the number of elevators was reduced from three to two. Unryu was painted with anti-submarine camouflage (No. 2 outer hull color/No. 22 outer hull color) from the time of her completion, and her wartime colorful appearance has been preserved in archival photographs. At the time of completion, most of the carrier's onboard air power had been lost in the Battle of the Marianas, and the ship could not prepare enough aircraft to meet its onboard quota, so it continued to train and wait in the coastal waters. In December 1944, the ship departed on an emergency transport of supplies to the Hishima area, which included the Sakurabana, a suicide plane. During the transportation operation, she was struck by a U.S. submarine in the East China Sea and sank after only four months of her short life. The product is a full hull specification that can be reproduced to the bottom of the ship, and comes with a pedestal to enjoy decorating after completion. The molded parts of the ship's hull are light green in consideration of the coloring of the outer hull color No. 22. The Yinken Type 21 electric searchlight on the flight deck and two submarine searchlights can be either retracted or deployed. The flight deck is painted in latex, which tends to be monotonous, but the design is rich in information with a variety of sculptural expressions such as eye rings for airplane moorings, landing brake cables, and expansion joints. Two types of annuals can be selected for production. The machine gun seat, which was later added, and the mounding gun and sponsons are separate parts, allowing for the reproduction of two forms, one at the time of completion and the other at the final stage of construction. Decals for camouflage are included to easily reproduce the camouflage painted on the flight deck. A variety of shipboard aircraft are included. Four types of aircraft "Zero 52", "Zero 21", "Comet", and "Tenzan" aircraft owned by the 601st Air Force, which existed as a ship-based unit after the completion of the ship. Includes the "Kamikaze aircraft Sakurabana" that was loaded in the hangar during the transport operation at the time of the sinking. The 25mm machine gun includes both conventional one-piece structural parts and more precise two-piece parts. Included are etched parts that allow for the detailed rendering of details that are difficult to reproduce with injection parts. The etched parts reproduce No. 13 and No. 21 electric searchlights, landing brake cables, handrails, and more. Please note that colors may look different from the actual product due to monitor and image resolution issues. (From Fujimi Models website)
