The Akagi from the Battle of Midway Island with anti-aircraft identification painted on the deck is now available with etched parts! The Hinomaru (Japanese flag) markings on the flight deck are included as both decals and stickers exclusively for this product. The pedestal for display comes with different parts from the standard version with a wooden deck/strip processing pattern. Includes both decals and stickers with the ship's name to be attached to the pedestal. The product is based on the motif at the time of Operation MI (Midway Island invasion) in June 1942. The ship's bottom and body parts are divided at the waterline, allowing for both offshore and full hull modeling. Eight colors are available: warship color, linoleum color, wood deck color, black, bottom color, gold, gray, and dark green. The ship's body is split into left and right sections and divided at the waterline. Molded in a special gray color that mimics the warship color used at the Kure Naval Arsenal. Portside is divided into left and right sections, and porthole windows and porthole electric lines are sculpted in crisp, three-dimensional detail. Fairleaders and other outfitting and modeling items are sculpted sharply and realistically. The bottom of the ship is a one-piece sliding mold. Water supply and drainage ports and armor thickness are expressed in detail. The flight deck is made of steel and wood in separate parts. Color separation can be expressed without painting. The wood deck is delicately sculpted to create a realistic appearance even without painting, and is deep enough to accommodate smudging when painting. Elevators are delicately sculpted to represent the eye rings. The drainage gutter around the flight deck, the wind shield fence, and the truss structure on the back side are sculpted in fine detail. The anchor deck on the bow is molded as a single piece of outfitting, while the anchor chain and other parts are reproduced in three-dimensional modeling. The crane rail under the aft flight deck is a separate part, and even the parts that are difficult to see have been carefully designed. The supporting and auxiliary props for the flight deck are reproduced with delicate parts. The chimney is a separate part with a black color molding to reproduce the paint separation without paint, and the depth of the exhaust port is also reproduced. The bridge is molded all around by a slide mold for realistic modeling. The 20cm cannon mounted on both sides of the aft port side is a superb modeling, even the wrinkles of the canvas are expressed. Four types of stickers and two types of decals are included to assist with coloring. Three of the four pre-cut stickers are included for easy coloring. Included are three models of ship-borne aircraft at the time of the Battle of Midway (Zero fighter, Type 99 naval bomber, Type 97 naval attack). The Zero and Type 99 ship-bomber are molded in light gray and can be easily reproduced with the included Hinomaru marking stickers. The Type 97 ship attack is molded in dark green. Each model uses one piece and comes with three of each, for a total of nine models. A pedestal designed in a straight black inconspicuous tone is included for display after completion. The box art is by Yoshiyuki Takani, depicting the Akagi sailing at high speed to launch its onboard aircraft. Etched parts are included, which can be used to express details that are difficult to reproduce with injection parts. Etched parts include handrails, fall prevention nets, jackstays around the chimney, boat davits, fixed mast, raised radio mast, chimney outlet, gangway, ramp, landing guidance lights, etc. Please note that colors may look different from the actual product due to monitor and image resolution issues.
