After completion, Akagi appears in the wave series, which includes a sea surface stage that allows you to easily and realistically express its sailing appearance! No painting required: Each part is colored with molded colors, and some parts are colored with stickers. No gluing required: The parts are designed to be easily assembled by fitting them together. The aircraft carrier Akagi was one of the representative aircraft carriers of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Originally intended to be the second ship of the Amagi-class cruiser battleship, its construction was halted due to the Washington Naval Treaty, and it was instead converted into an aircraft carrier, completing in 1927. Originally featuring multiple decks, it was later modified at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal into a single-deck design. During the Pacific War, it served as the main aircraft carrier of the Nagumo Task Force, participating in the Pearl Harbor attack and the Indian Ocean campaign. In June 1942, during the Midway Island campaign, it was hit by U.S. forces, suffered a major fire, and was sunk by torpedoes from friendly destroyers. (Structural and Specification Features) ? The model is composed of pre-colored parts, allowing the intended color scheme to be reproduced without painting. ? Snap-fit assembly allows for construction without the use of adhesive. ? Includes a sea base to realistically display the ship as it would appear sailing on the ocean. (Product Features) ? The product is modeled after the ship's appearance at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack in December 1941 (at the start of the war), with a scale of 1/700. ・This product was designed and manufactured using molds from a later year compared to the same scale/different series (Special Series). ・The completed product is a seaworthy model type that reproduces the upper part above the waterline. ・The parts are colored in a mouse-gray hue resembling the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal color based on historical records (Yokosuka Naval District registry, entered Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in 1942). ? The display base for the sea surface realistically depicts the wake waves generated by the bow, sides, and propellers. Hull ? The hull is divided into left and right sections at the waterline. It is molded in a custom gray color resembling the naval ship color used at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal. ? The sides are divided into left and right sections, with portholes and external electrical circuits depicted in sharp, three-dimensional relief. ・Fairleaders and other fittings and structures are realistically reproduced with sharp sculpting. Flight Deck ・The flight deck is divided into separate parts for the steel section and wooden deck section. Color differentiation can be expressed without painting. ・The wooden deck features delicate sculpting, providing a realistic appearance even without painting and accommodating deep shading when painted. ・The elevator's eye rings are depicted with delicate sculpting. ・The drainage gutters, windbreaks, and truss structures on the underside of the flight deck are reproduced in intricate detail. Bow ・The anchor deck at the bow is molded as a single piece with the fittings, while the anchor chain is reproduced in three-dimensional form. ・The crane rails under the flight deck at the stern are separate parts, with attention to detail even in hard-to-see areas. ・The pillars and auxiliary pillars supporting the flight deck are reproduced with delicate parts. Outfitting ・The smokestack has a separate part at the tip, reproduced with black molding to replicate the paint separation without painting, and the depth of the exhaust port is also reproduced. ? The bridge features realistic molding around the entire circumference, achieved through slide molding. ? The 20-centimeter guns mounted on both sides of the stern are superbly crafted, even reproducing the wrinkles in the canvas. Carrier-based aircraft ・The three types of carrier-based aircraft included are those that were carried at the time of the ship's sinking between December 1941 and June 1942 (Zero fighter, Type 99 carrier-based bomber, and Type 97 carrier-based torpedo bomber). The Zero fighter and Type 99 carrier-based bomber are molded in light gray, and the included Hinomaru marking stickers can be easily applied to reproduce the original coloring. ? The Type 97 Carrier-Based Torpedo Bomber is molded in dark green. Each aircraft is a single piece, with three of each type included, totaling nine aircraft. Included Decals ? Pre-cut decals with excellent adhesion are included for easy application of detailed coloring. ? The included decals feature the linoleum flooring of the outer gangway and the white lines on the flight deck, allowing for color expression without painting. ? Separate from the stickers, decals featuring flight deck white lines and the Japanese flag on the aircraft are included for those who prefer a painted finish. ? Starting with the first production lot in November 2025, the white line markings have been revised based on further research to accurately represent the original pattern. ? The molded parts are composed of seven colors: Yokosuka Naval Arsenal color, black, linoleum color, wooden deck color, dark green, light gray-white, and clear blue. ? Completed size: (approx.) Length 396 x Width 134 x Height 66 mm (including display sea base) 【Included contents】 ? Runners x25 ? Sea base part x1 ? Assembly instructions x1 ? Color stickers x3 ? Decals x1
