The Imperial Japanese Navy's Anti-Aircraft Destroyer! The Akizuki/Hatsuyuki now available with etching parts! This series features a snap-fit design requiring no glue, setting it apart from conventional kits. All assembly is snap-fit (excluding bonus parts for heavy users). Primary color separation is achieved using pre-colored molded parts, while details and markings are reproduced with highly conformable real stickers. ● This set includes both the lead ship, Akizuki (No. 1), and the fourth ship, Hatsuki (No. 4). ・Both are modeled after their appearance during Operation Sh?-1 (the Battle of Cape Engano) in October 1944. ・The masts carry Type 21 radar, and the hull windows are largely blocked off, reflecting wartime modifications based on combat experience. ・Differences between Akizuki and Hatsuki, such as torpedo transport rails and bridge sections, are differentiated using dedicated parts. ●Key Feature Reproduction Characteristics 〇Hull/Bottom ・Akizuki's hull color is molded in dark gray, replicating the Sasebo Naval Arsenal color. Hatsuki's hull color is molded in the lightest gray, replicating the Maizuru Naval Arsenal color. ・The hull and bottom parts are separated at the waterline, allowing for the option to build either a full hull or a seagoing model. ・The sides feature raised sculpting for the blocked portholes, creating a three-dimensional effect. ・The sides depict the seams and steps of the outer plating based on preserved cross-section diagrams. ・The bottom reproduces the outer plating seams and water intake/discharge ports with sculpting. ・The upper deck's slight drainage slope, tilted to the left and right, is finely depicted. 〇Differences between Akizuki and Hatsuki ・The differing shapes of the signal station decks on Akizuki and Hatsuki are represented as separate parts. ・The steam exhaust pipe on the port side of the funnel runs high on Akizuki and low on Hatsuki. ・The railings behind the port torpedo tubes differ between Akizuki and Hatsuki, requiring separate parts. ・The rear machine gun turret shape is hexagonal for Akizuki and an irregular octagon for Hatsuki, each as a separate part. 〇Detailed Features ・The bridge window molded parts are transparent. ・The stepped design of the navigation bridge windows, extending from the front to the sides, is accurately depicted. ・The slightly visible anti-aircraft struts on the signal station deck are depicted. ・The design difference in height between the navigation bridge and signal station deck is accurately reproduced. ・Grating is laid in the central section of the anti-aircraft command post, with its step difference also sculpted. ・The main guns (“10 cm guns”) are rendered in 3D with delicate sculpting. ・The design at the rear of the bridge, based on the Hatsuyuki blueprints, features a radar room positioned above the vegetable boxes. ・The lower sections of the funnels contain passageways and storage areas extending to both sides; the parts are designed with the passageways left open on both sides. ・The starboard side features a linoleum deck extending from the stern. Based on photographic records, its terminus is estimated to be the forward machine gun position (Frame 99) in front of the torpedo tubes and is set accordingly. 〇 Includes bonus adhesive parts for greater precision as a bonus. ・Includes small parts like 25mm single-mount machine guns, armor plates, and ammunition boxes. ・Single-mount machine gun placement allows for both configurations: the final layout extending to the cutter mounting area, and the June 1944 layout based on post-Operation A investigation data. 〇 Includes pre-cut realistic decals with excellent conformability for uneven surfaces. ・The decals cover areas requiring detailed painting, such as the naval ensign, lifebuoys, and the interior of the cutter. ・While the propeller shaft is traditionally depicted in hull color or black, a gold-colored shaft decal is included for visual appeal. ・As a bonus, decals for the white lines on the gun barrels and the grating sections of the anti-aircraft command post are included. ・As a bonus, includes post-war markings like the ship name on the Fuyutsuki's hull for use in modifications. 〇Display Base ・Redesigned shape for improved stability! Lower center of gravity and increased footprint ensure firm placement. ・Reversible parts feature a smooth surface and textured wave pattern; painting the smooth side blue creates a wave effect. ・Molded in black, consists of 4 parts total. ● Includes two sets of etching parts for detailed reproduction difficult with injection-molded parts. Etching parts include handrails, Type 13 radar, Type 21 radar, skid beams, depth charge loading, gangways, various davits, ladders, flagpoles, single machine guns, torpedo screws, shields, anti-aircraft sighting devices, and funnel surround details. Please note that monitor and image resolution differences may cause colors to appear different from the actual product. (From the Fujimi Models website)
