A special edition of the “Yamato, Showa 20” kit?which comes with a wave base that realistically depicts the ship at sea?now includes etched parts and wooden deck decals! No painting required: Each part is pre-colored in its molded color, and some parts use decals to achieve the desired color scheme. No glue required: The snap-fit design allows for easy assembly. [Structure and Specifications] ・Composed of color-separated parts, the intended color scheme is reproduced without the need for painting. ・Snap-fit assembly allows for construction without the use of glue. ・Includes a water surface base that makes it easy to realistically display the ship as if it were sailing on the open sea. ・Includes etched parts that allow for detailed reproduction down to the finest details?something difficult to achieve with injection-molded parts alone. ・Includes a specially developed wooden deck decal for even greater precision. [Product Features] ・The model is based on the ship’s appearance during Operation Ten-Ichi (the Okinawa Kamikaze Operation) in April, Showa 20. ・Scale: 1/700. ・Includes a display-ready sea surface base made of plastic from a custom mold, featuring a three-dimensional representation of the wake generated by the bow, sides, and propellers. ・The box art is an original illustration by artist Takeshi Kurokawa. It depicts the Yamato sailing at high speed under clear skies, sending up spray. ・The molded parts consist of a total of 7 colors: (Kure Naval Arsenal color, hull bottom color, black, dark gray, gold, dark green, clear blue) ・Assembled dimensions: Length 396 × Width 134 × Height 88 mm (Includes display base with water surface) [Contents] ・Sprues × 24 ・Water surface part × 1 ・Spacers × 3 ・Assembly instructions × 3 ・Decal sheet × 1 ・Etched parts × 2 ・Wooden deck decal × 1 Hull ・The hull is split into left and right halves, divided at the waterline. It is molded in a custom gray color modeled after the naval ship color used at the Kure Naval Arsenal. ・Since many of the portholes are depicted as blocked, the side hull parts have been specially designed; unblocked portholes feature recessed engraving, while blocked ones feature raised engraving, creating a sharp contrast for a highly detailed reproduction. ・The external electrical wiring mounted on the side hull is faithfully reproduced, down to the fastening points. Armament ・The main guns are capable of elevation and traverse. This design achieves both minimal parts count and realistic modeling. ・The direction of the 46-cm main gun barrel is set to the open position using a sliding mold. ・Dedicated parts are provided for both the main gun turret and the machine gun mounts to reproduce the added machine gun positions on the No. 2 and No. 3 main gun turrets. ・The secondary guns are rotatable, and the barrel and turret are integrated into a single-piece structure. Bridge ・The bridge features integrated parts achieved by using split and slide molds to minimize visible seams between components. ・The No. 22 radar units on both sides of the bridge are custom parts designed to reproduce their relocated positions. ・The 15-meter rangefinder and compass are designed to be rotatable. ・Behind the bridge, the added crew waiting area and the expanded signal deck are represented by dedicated parts. Funnel/Mast ・The funnel is a left-right matching set that features a one-piece design incorporating the steam discharge pipe, whistle pipe, and monkey ladder. ・The top cap (grating) is left open, creating a highly realistic model with a sense of depth. ・The mast is a two-piece structure designed with the Type 13 radar?which was mounted during this period?integrated into the design. Aircraft ・Two aircraft models are included as dedicated dark green color parts. ・One Type 0 (three-seat) seaplane reconnaissance aircraft and one Type 0 observation aircraft. ・Panel lines are recessed, and the propellers are molded as a single unit with the fuselage using a slide mold for precise detail. Display Sea Surface Base ・A dedicated molded part designed to match the waterline shape of the Yamato-class ships. (Mold / Manufactured in 2025) ・External dimensions: 396 mm (L) × 134 mm (W) × 17 mm (H approx.); molded in clear blue. ・Reproduces waves spreading from the bow to the sides, the subdued sea surface along the hull, and the wake generated by the propellers. ・The ship’s cross-section at the waterline is compatible not only with the “Kantai NEXT” series but also with the “Special Series” Yamato-class ships. ・Three 1 mm-thick paper spacers are included to increase the height of the bow section. Included Decals ・Pre-cut decals with excellent conformability are included for easy application of detailed coloring. ・Includes decals for the waterproof canvas covering the main and secondary guns, the walkway behind the No. 3 main gun, the naval ensign, and the Hinomaru markings on the ship’s aircraft. ・Also included are the “Hiri-h?-ken” banner, the Kikusui mark beside the funnel, and the vice admiral’s flag of Vice Admiral Seiichi Ito, the ship’s final commanding officer. Bonus Parts ・Adhesive bonus parts are included for users seeking a higher level of precision. ・The bonus parts consist of 78 machine gun ammunition boxes, mast struts, and antenna supports on the secondary gun canopies. Etched Parts ・Two sheets of brass etched parts are included to help you build a more precise model. These allow you to reproduce the intricate details on the ship’s hull. ・Etched part dimensions: Sheet 1: (approx.) 62 × 180 mm; Sheet 2: (approx.) 53 × 180 mm; both are approximately 0.1 mm thick. ・The etching parts include handrails, ladders, a crane, the area around the funnel, Type 13 radar, Type 21 radar, a compass, watertight doors, and the chrysanthemum crest. Wooden Deck Decals ・These custom parts were developed specifically to allow for even more precise assembly of the popular “Nami Series” 1/700 scale snap-fit Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Yamato. ・The wood grain pattern on the wooden deck decals (running along the ship’s length) is rendered with precise detail to ensure it is clearly reproduced even at 1/700 scale. ・The thickness of the decals has been minimized to reduce unevenness during application as much as possible. ・Not only are the various large and small assembly holes on the deck precisely cut out, but even the mounting holes for fine parts have been carefully pre-cut. They can be applied perfectly as-is, without any tedious additional work. *Information current as of September 2026. (From the Fujimi Models website)
