Sci-Fi/Animation Character (Completed, Fixed Pose) Gamera 1996 (G2), sculpted and produced by Yuji Sakai, is now available as a complete painted figure measuring approximately 32 cm in height! The 20cm soft vinyl kit “Gamera 1996” was released as a garage kit during the release of the 1996 Daiei (now KADOKAWA) movie “Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion” and made a huge impact on fans, and continues to be supported to this day as a masterpiece. This prototype is a perfect reproduction of the costumed figure used in the filming, which was created by Mr. Sakai himself after conducting extensive interviews at the filming location. After 29 years, the model has been revived as a complete painted figure under the complete supervision of Mr. Sakai and with new materials provided by the elite Toyo Kaiyodo molding team, aiming for even greater perfection! This product, with its brushed-up details, is a new prototype of Mr. Sakai's work that can only be done now. The prototype of those days was digitized by the latest 3D scanning method = CT scan, the original prototype size was enlarged from 190mm to 320mm, and the mold was directly created by baking the 3D printer output, and this was produced using only the original mold without using a duplicated mold for mass production, We aimed to reproduce the original mold as faithfully as possible. This minimizes deformation and shrinkage seen in orthodox lost wax soft vinyl products. Of course, the coloring was also completely supervised by Mr. Sakai. Instead of the conventional process of painting by hand, we succeeded in mass-producing the product with a quality as if it were finished by hand by a painting craftsman. The result is not the mechanical finish of conventional mass-produced products, but rather a one-off work of art. Profile of Yuji Sakai Yuji Sakai is one of Japan's leading monster sculptors and a leading expert on Godzilla sculpting. He began his career as a professional sculptor after winning the grand prize in the “Artpla Grand Prix” sponsored by Kaiyodo. His sculpting ability is not limited to figurines, but is so strong that he has influenced the creation of Godzilla costumes for full-length Godzilla movies. Although Godzilla is his most popular work, it is a well-known fact that he has demonstrated unrivaled skill in modeling other monsters, including Gamera. In recent years, he has also supervised all the monsters at the “Eiji Museum” in Eiji Tsuburaya's hometown of Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, and was able to reprint the first Godzilla suit, which does not exist today.
