The familiar Super Hornet stationed in Iwakuni, Japan is now available in 1/72 from Platz! [About the aircraft] The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed as a development of the F/A-18C/D Hornet, and deployment began in 1999. It is equipped with two F414-GE400 turbofan engines. In addition to a fixed armament of one 20mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon, the larger fuselage has 11 additional hardpoints that can be used for air-to-air missiles such as the AIM-120A, air-to-surface missiles such as the AGM-65E, bombs, and most of the armaments operated by the United States. The U.S. Navy's VFA-27 attack squadron, established in 1967, has operated the F/A-18E since 2004. The F/A-18E has been deployed to the Iwakuni Air Base in Japan and has become a familiar sight in Japan.
