The zapper dragon on the tail is an unmissable growler [About the aircraft.] The EA-18G Growler is an electronic warfare aircraft developed and operated by the U.S. Navy as a successor to the Grumman EA-6B Growler. It was developed based on the U.S. Navy's F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter aircraft, and began operations in 2009. It has a crew of two. The pilot and a WSO (Weapon Systems Officer) are in the rear seat. It is equipped with AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System (TJS) pods, AN/ALQ-218(V)2 radio frequency reception system, and AN/ALQ-227 communications countermeasure set as electronic warfare equipment. Engines are two General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofan engines. It has a maximum speed close to Mach 1.8. Armed with these equipment, the Grauler opposed the enemy's air defense (SEAD) aircraft. The VAQ-130 Zappers, the oldest electronic warfare squadron in the U.S. Navy with origins as the 13th Carrier Early Warning Squadron, VAW-13, in 1959, have also operated the Growler since 2011. [About the kit.] The kit is a 1/48 scale reproduction of the U.S. Navy's current electronic warfare aircraft, the EA-18G Growler. It is a plastic model assembly kit with a finished overall length of 381mm. The distinctive form is accurately modeled in a size that has a strong presence. Parts are made by Italeri, a long-established Italian manufacturer, and a Japanese instruction manual produced by Platz is included. Japanese modelers can also tackle this kit with confidence. In addition, masking stickers are included as standard equipment for painting the canopy frame. The canopy of the large tandem cockpit can be easily painted to enhance the atmosphere of the finished model. The cockpit interior, leg parts and leg compartment details are also sharply modeled. The VAQ-130 Zappers, which has been operating the Growler since 2011, is selected for the markings. The Zapper Dragon insignia depicting a dragon, inherited from the days of its predecessor VAW-13, is reproduced on the tail wing. Please also use the separately sold etched special detail-up parts set. Reproduction of the U.S. Navy EA-18G Grawler electronic warfare aircraft in 1/48 scale. Italeri parts, Japanese manual by Platz, and original packaging are included. Markings are selected from VAQ-130 Zappers markings. Masking sheet is included for painting the canopy frame.
