●Enjoy choosing special markings About the actual aircraft The T-2 is an advanced trainer that has trained many elite pilots for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, protecting Japan's skies. It was Japan's first independently developed supersonic aircraft. It first flew in 1971, entered service in 1974, and remained active until 2006. It was powered by two TF40-IHI-801A turbofan engines manufactured by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries. It boasted a maximum speed of Mach 1.6. The T-2 was divided into two variants: an early model used for basic combat pilot training (unarmed) and a later model used for advanced combat pilot training, which also carried armament such as cannons. The T-2, once operational, played a vital role in training elite pilots to defend Japan's skies. It is said that 1,450 pilots were trained on the T-2 before its retirement. It truly is a masterpiece aircraft that nurtured many pilots. About the Model This is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit reproducing the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's T-2 advanced trainer. This kit includes four selectable markings from special paint schemes displayed at air shows held at various bases. It's a kit where choosing and finishing your preferred version is part of the fun. The airframe models the later variant equipped with a Vulcan cannon. Every part of the airframe is meticulously reproduced down to the panel lines, realistically capturing the sharp airframe shape that boasted a Mach 1.6 capability. Of course, it's not just the exterior. The intricate detailing extends to the interior of the two-seat cockpit and landing gear parts, enhancing the sense of realism in the finished model. The featured markings include: the special paint scheme aircraft produced by the 22nd Squadron in 1998 to commemorate the unit's 20th anniversary; the special paint scheme aircraft of the 22nd Squadron displayed at the 1997 Matsushima Air Base Air Show; the Gifu Flight Development and Experimentation Group display aircraft shown at the 1994 Komaki Air Base Air Show; and the markings of the 8th Squadron, 3rd Air Wing, Misawa Air Base from 1987. Decals are by Cartograph.
