Plastic Model Kit [Scale] 1/48 ● Includes masking decals for a professional finish [About the Real Aircraft] The MiG-21 is a masterpiece of Soviet fighter aircraft that entered service in 1959. Various variants were produced, and it remained in active service well into the 2000s. Designed by the Mikoyan-Guregovich Design Bureau, the prototype made its maiden flight in 1955. The MiG-21 was officially designated in 1956. The first mass-production model was called the MiG-21F, followed by various improved variants. Among these, the MiG-21bis is considered the ultimate evolution of the MiG-21. The MiG-21bis made its maiden flight in 1971. It was powered by a single Tumanovsky R-25-300 turbojet engine and achieved a maximum speed of 2,175 km/h. Its fixed armament consisted of a single 23mm GSh-23L cannon. The airframe featured four hardpoints, allowing for a maximum payload of 1,300 kg. It was widely deployed and operated not only in the Soviet Union but also throughout the communist bloc. [About the Model] This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit representing the MiG-21bis variant, a Soviet masterpiece fighter that served as the mainstay from the 1970s through the 1980s. It accurately reproduces the distinctive silhouette of the MiG-21 “Fishbed,” characterized by its delta wings and nose-mounted air intakes. This kit includes masking decals for painting the canopy window frames and tires, making it convenient for finishing. The airframe parts are manufactured by Eduard. The kit accurately captures the aircraft’s shape, with separate parts used to reproduce the bulge extending from the rear of the cockpit to the vertical stabilizer. Additionally, the air brake parts can be assembled in either the open or closed position, allowing you to enjoy choosing the look of the finished model. The cockpit interior is also modeled in detail, featuring the instrument panel and seats. The markings reproduce an aircraft with a natural silver metal finish and the blue tactical number “40” painted on the nose. The Cyrillic letters indicating approval by the Komsomol (Communist Youth League of the Soviet Union), painted behind the number “40,” are also reproduced with decals. ● Reproduces the post-war masterpiece fighter, the MiG-21bis, in 1/48 scale ● Includes masking stickers for convenient painting of the canopy frame and tires ● Parts manufactured by Eduard ● Decals manufactured by Cartograf, renowned for their high quality
