Fine Molds 1/72 Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-2B Fighter Hijitsu 101 w/Type 12 surface-to-ship missile (Air-Launched Type)

2026 All Japan Model & Hobby Show “Products Announced at the Show” 1/72 Scale Plastic ModelR Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-2B Fighter “Himi No. 101” w/ Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Guided Missile (Air-Launched Type) [Product No. FK08] [Strictly Limited Edition] [New Parts Added [3D-Printed Parts]] Procurement of the Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Guided Missile (12SSM), which is in service with the Self-Defense Forces, began in fiscal year 2012 (Heisei 24). It is deployed as a domestically produced surface-to-ship missile designed to serve as a deterrent against foreign naval vessels as part of island defense. It is still fresh in our memory that it was deployed to the 5th Surface-to-Ship Missile Regiment of the Western Army Special Weapons Unit in fiscal year 2016 (Heisei 28). The Type 17 Ship-to-Ship Guided Missile (SSM-2), developed based on the 12SSM, aims to achieve longer range (stand-off capability). Since 2020, the focus has shifted to developing an enhanced version of the Type 12 Surface-to-Ship Guided Missile that can be operated from a variety of Self-Defense Forces platforms (equipment used by the Ground, Maritime, and Air Self-Defense Forces). The Japan Air Self-Defense Force is proceeding with the development of an air-launched variant, and operational tests?conducted by the Flight Development and Experimentation Group using an F-2 fighter jet?were observed at Gifu Air Base in August 2026. This kit includes an F-2B with decals for Flight Development and Experimentation Group Aircraft No. 101, as well as a set of two 3D-printed Type 12 Anti-Ship Guided Missile Enhanced Capability variants.
