The 103 Series is a DC commuter train that debuted in 1963 (Showa 38) during the Japan National Railways (JNR) era. It began revenue service on the Sobu Line in 1979, operating direct services from Chiba Station to Ochanomizu Station and on to Mitaka Station on the Chuo Line.
