The luxurious sleeper express “Cassiopia,” which debuted in July 1999 and connected Ueno to Sapporo. Until its regular service ended in March 2016, it was pulled by a double-headed DD51 diesel locomotive between Hakodate and Sapporo within Hokkaido.
