[Wheel driving is fun! 2nd microcomputer robot]
In addition to the educational microcomputer board "BBC micro: bit" (BBC micro: bit), it is a robot tool set for wheel running that is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor and a motor drive circuit.
Controls the two motors in the double gearbox based on the installed basic programming.
It runs automatically avoiding obstacles.
In addition, light movement with a large diameter front wheel and a small diameter rear wheel is also important.
Since the left and right arms and head swing in conjunction with running, you can enjoy the action full of cuteness as if you look around while walking energetically.
In addition, the BBC microbit LED that can be seen well from the body part, the design of the robot, and the SF mood that gray and white coloring come out are also attractive.
All necessary parts are set, and wiring of each part is pluggable.
A work set that allows you to easily assemble and experience STEMs that are attracting worldwide attention.

[If you program on a PC, the fun will be further expanded]
The BBC Microbit, which is the brain of the robot, has a running program installed so you can play it right away after assembly. However, if you have a personal computer, you can freely change the robot's movement by programming.
For the program, the free software “MakeCode” on the web is recommended.
It is characterized by being able to combine block-like icons called visual programming, and the icons indicate operations such as "repeat", "output", and "wait for 3 seconds".
If you arrange these icons, the program is complete.
In addition, if the BBC micro bit (sold separately) is prepared for the controller, the robot can be operated wirelessly.

* BBC micro: bit is a registered trademark of the micro: bit Education Foundation.

-The clear twin motor gearbox mounted on the robot is a nice point to observe the internal movement as well as the mechanical atmosphere.
Rubber wheels are attached to large and small wheels, and running and turning are done with light footwork.

・ "BBC Microbit" is a British-born educational microcomputer board.
There are 25 LEDs, 2 button switches, an accelerometer and direction sensor, and a wireless communication function on the front of the 4 x 5 cm printed circuit board.

-All necessary electronic parts such as "BBC Microbit", motor drive circuit "mi-01", ultrasonic sensor "mi-02" are set.
* The color of the BBC microbit board cannot be selected.

-The basic driving program "Automatic driving while avoiding obstacles" is installed in advance, so you can assemble and play immediately without a PC.

・ The BBC microbit for controller (sold separately from Tamiya Customer Service) can be used to control the robot wirelessly.
Please refer to Tamiya Shop Online "Parts for microcomputer board mounting and programming parts".

-A computer connected to the Internet (such as Win / Mac) and a micro USB cable are required for programming.

・ Free “MakeCode” (Japanese version) that can be used with a web browser is recommended for programming.
Visual programming can be done by arranging blocks with actions written on the screen.

・ BBC Microbit has a running program installed.
If you have a personal computer, you can rewrite the program and change the movement freely.

[What is STEM education]
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, focusing on the education of these four disciplines in the IT and global society. This is a 21st century-style education system based on the idea of ??nurturing many human resources with suitable international competitiveness.
“Mandatory programming education in elementary schools” starting in 2020 in Japan is part of that.
