About the Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft Type III During the Pacific War, the Japanese Army's Type 100 command reconnaissance aircraft was active in strategic reconnaissance missions. The Type III, which followed the Type I and Type III, was equipped with two Mitsubishi Ha112-II engines with an output of 1,300 hp. The large windshield with a smooth line from the nose, the cowling that smoothly enveloped the engine, and other measures to reduce aerodynamic drag were thoroughly pursued, and it achieved a speed of 630 km/h, the fastest among all practical Japanese airplanes. The Kurogane Yotsuki entered actual combat in 1944 and continued to fly information-gathering missions in Southeast Asia and the Pacific theater.
