Tamiya's first shaft 4WD racing buggy appeared in 1985. With high performance running full of innovative mechanisms we quickly captured many fans. The chassis is a three-piece structure composed of front and rear gear boxes and a center monocoque. High maintenance is attractive. Suspension is a double wishbone equipped with a mono shock oil damper and a stabilizer both in the front and back. Especially the rear is a progressive type which adopted connecting plate and push rod. Also, the sealed front and rear gearboxes had thrust ball bearings and differential gears built in. Because it used a lot of exclusive parts only for hot shots, it became a machine out of reach for young fans, but it got to stir up their longing. Hot shot which became one epoch making one which established the genre called 4WD racing buggy. Hot shot (2007) is a reprint version that updates only the part that does not fit the current situation and the part that is difficult to assemble under the design concept that the form and structure are not put as much as possible. Shaft drive 4WD, front and rear double wishbone suspension equipped with adjustable type mono shock damper, etc. Main shafts and propeller shafts have been changed to reliable dog bone type, with the main mechanism intact. Oil dampers are now mainstream diaphragm type.
