[German Anti-tank Self-propelled Artillery Murder III]
In June 1941 the German army, which invaded the Soviet Union, encountered unexpected Soviet new arrival tanks such as heavy armored KV I and KV II and T34. In particular, the T34 was an innovative tank with a powerful 76.2 mm cannon and a thick sloping armor that pierced the front armor of any German tank from a distance of more than 1,000 meters. Even with the best 50mm anti-tank gun 38 short range fire that German infantry units had at the time, it only scratched the front armored surface of the T34. In order to save this front line, the German army acquired an improved long-barreled 7.62 cm gun from the Soviet Union army on the body of a Czech 38 (t) tank that had been obsoleted as an emergency measure. The III Sd.Kfz.139 was launched to support the front crises until more powerful new tanks and self-propelled guns appeared.
