Based on the requirements of the Italian Air Force, the first flight in 1939, primarily for the export was Regiane Re 2000 fighting aircraft.
The Italian aircraft with a thick and short fuselage was characterized by an unfamiliar style.
As its improved type, the engine was replaced with an air-cooled type with 1,175 horsepower, and Re2002 was adopted as a battle bomber.
Weapons were equipped with two 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose, two 7.7 mm machine guns in the main wing, and a bomb of up to 650 kg under the torso.
In July 1943 the Allies began to land on Sicily, and fought an interceptor mission.
After the Italian surrender, the German army also used Re 2002 as a ground attack machine against Partisan.
It was also deployed in the Italian Co-Sengoku Air Force on the Allied Forces side.
