This firearm adopted by the Self-Defense Forces under the name of "5.56mm machine gun Minimi" is a model of FN-MINIMI made in Belgium licensed and produced in Japan.
It is a firearm that can fire the same ammunition as the main rifle Type 89 rifle, and is widely used for carrying machine guns of the Infantry unit, in-vehicle use such as light armored rifles, and UH-1 door guns.
